The Rundown: Hudson Tremain is a card player who gets invited to a dangerous new game.

Hudson Tremain is a card player and a really good one. After taking on casinos, she receives an invitation to play a game with higher stakes. That’s when she’s confronted by a group who reveals that the game she is playing is not only dangerous, but allows her to play with elements of fate itself.
After learning about the game, Hudson agrees and goes to her first game where she takes on some strange and powerful entities. After winning, she receives a violent lesson in just how dangerous this new game can be from someone who doesn’t like to lose.
The Story: Bunn crafts an interesting and engaging premise in this first issue. I like the character of Hudson a lot and the supernatural elements of the story grabbed my attention as well as the reveal of certain aspects of the game itself. This is definitely an entertaining premise and I am interested in seeing where this story goes next.
The Art: Zamudio offers some great art with a unique and visually compelling art style that is perfect for both the characters and the supernatural elements of the story.
